BIOGRAPHY
Judith McAuslan Music Educator and Trainer
Judith studied violin at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, singing at the Royal Northern College of Music and received a MA Education degree from the University of Chester
She has enjoyed a performing career, which has taken her to many parts of Europe. After moving to Italy with her young family, she became involved in music education, setting up her own early year’s music group and teaching music in a bilingual nursery to children of all nationalities. On returning to the U K. she trained as a Colourstrings Music Kindergarten teacher, based on the Kodaly approach to music education. Over the years she has provided sessions for parents and young children as well as teaching extensively in schools and nurseries in Kent and Cheshire. She worked for the national “Sing Up” initiative supporting primary school teachers in their professional development; and along with speech and language professionals, developed the CSMK approach to help the development of speech and language in young children through singing and musicianship skills.
Her Masters Degree in Education also studied the role of music in social and emotional learning and peer learning in young children.
Since 2014 Judith has divided her career as a voice and violin teacher with her work at St Margaret's CE Primary School in Warrington, where she works as a specialist music teacher. There she teaches class music, runs the strings programme and choirs and provides CPD for teachers.
In 2019, Judith developed her CPD programme 'Music Bites' for primary class teachers. This training gives class teachers the tools to provide 'bites' of musical activity throughout their day, developing vital musicianship skills as required by the model music curriculum and at the same time providing a classroom management tool.
Judith gave a presentation on 'Music Bites' at the Music and Drama Expo in March 2020.
